Here's my old (OK,not THAT old) and trusty P bass. I just love this bass.
I traded my Fender Marcus Miller jazz bass for it and never regreted. I always feel comfy and funky with Precision basses, and this one I upgraded with Seymour Duncan Antiquity pick ups and stringed with DR (045-105) strings for that greasy, fat sound of The Funk.
And yes it's from the mexican factory, the famous '50 reissue series, everyone raving about. Me included! |
Another one for small money but with great sound and feel Squier ( by Fender ) Vintage Modified series fretless jazz bass ( Uh, that's a long name for a bass! ) I bought this bass to see if I can play fretless without being ripped off. After some time I realized that I liked the bass, and that I could play fretless! Still, I needed new pick ups to make this great bass sounds even better.
My choice were Nordstrand NJ4 singles and that was it! It delivers big, punchy, vintage lowmidrangey tone I love! I also stringed it with DR rounds (Marcus Miller fat Beams) 045-105.
Whenever I show up with this bass people appreciate the sound and the appearance! Someone always asks something like:
Man,that is the bass! Just how much you paid for it? |
This is The Funk Machine! I ordered this bass from Branko Radulovic, a luthier from Macedonia. It's not a secret I am a huge fan of The Headhunters, Herbie and therefore Paul Jackson! I wanted to have something as close as possible to his Stick Geraldine modified tele/P bass he had back in the days. After a short research I had specs: Ash body,Maple neck and 2 Bartolini humbuckers.
This bass has it all: kind of Music Man bite and Precision mud, just the right combination for my ears!
It came with Pyramid nickels, but as I never seemed to like them, I turn to my favs... yes, you knew it... DR Fat beams! |
